We are Marius van Vuuren, 38 years old, and Jaco de Clercq, 29 years old. Marius - I am a project manager working for Massbuild who trades as Builders Warehouse, Builders Express and Builders Trade Depot. I run mainly IT related projects and my work is office bound. Jaco - I am a civil engineer working for Aurecon. I am currently busy with my Honors degree. We are a gay male couple who have been in a stable, loving relationship for the past 5 years and 3 months. We met on the 16th of April 2006 and it was almost immediate that we knew we wanted to spend the rest of our lives together. We moved in together about a month after we met and have been living together ever since as life partners. We got engaged 2 years ago and are busy planning our wedding for the 7th of October this year. We knew almost instantly when we met each other that we wanted to spend the rest of our lives together. As we grew closer together as a couple we gradually extended our commitment by first getting engaged, then buying a house together, and now getting married. We believe we are now both secure enough in our relationship, settled in our careers and emotionally ready to take the next big step of adding a child to our family and extending our love to a little human being whom we want to raise with the same love we both were raised with, as part of our family. It is our hearts desire to have a child to love, care for and raise with solid Christian values.

We are a gay male couple who has tried the adoption route without success. We desperately want a child of our own to raise with the same love, care, values and opportunities we were blessed to grow up with.

Message from the intended parents

isn't it amazing to think that there is a person out there - who might be you, who could be the mother of our child/ren? We desperately want a child of our own, and if God allows eventually 2 children, one from each of us. We have tried to persue the adoption avenue, knowing that there are so many unwanted children out in society, just to find out with a shock that so many of these little angels cannot be adopted, due to their biological parents not wanting to sign them over - rather leting them get raised in an orphanage or foster home. We want a white child and as it is practically impossible to adopt a white child - especially for a same sex couple, we decided to pursue the option of actually having our own children - a thought that still sounds like a miracle to us. Please don’t let the fact that we are 2 men impact negatively on us being considered. Although no man or woman could ever claim to be the perfect parent, we can assure you that we have just as much, if not more, love to share than any heterosexual couples. Although there are not a female in our household, Marius will most definitely fulfill this function in terms of providing the nurturing qualities a child needs. We have a great support structure in terms of friends (lots of mommies who can’t wait to assist with advice and support) and Jaco’s parents are just around the corner. We endeavor to give the best of ourselves and what we have to the precious gift we believe we will be entrusted with.
