I will be 48 in October. Though I am currently just working in retail, I plan to finish my BA in psychology and eventually get my masters in counseling. I also have been making jewelry for over 20 years. I am artsy, bookish, intellectual, analytical, conscientious and I am told I am funny and silly. My passion is to help others. I am told over and over that I will be a wonderful mother. I mourn not being able to carry a child and this brings tears to my eyes. But I believe being a parent is not about giving birth so much as it is about raising that precious little life and taking full responsibility for his or her physical, emotional and spiritual needs. My husband is brilliant and intellectual, funny, silly and affectionate. He aches to be a father and be the kind of role model his dad was. We have been married 11 years and are at a point in our relationship where the absence of children just makes no sense. We have a wonderful lab mix, Walter, whom we adore and spoil and two funny quirky cockatiels (small birds) that allow us to love them. All that is missing is a child.

We have been unable to conceive naturally and I am 48 and IVF presents too many risks for the baby and myself. We would really like our baby to at least have my husband's genes so a surrogate is the best option for us.

Dear Potential Surrogate Mom, no matter whether you choose us or someone else to honor with the incredible gift of surrogacy, I pray for your health and well-being. Why should you choose us? We are mature, conscientious people who long for children. We are unable to conceive naturally, probably due to my age and dearly wish we could have our own children. I have been fascinated by pregnancy and birth for as long as I can remember and just assumed that my body could make it happen when the time was right. Honestly, walking past pregnant women and babies can be difficult at times. There are so many pregnant women and babies and children at our church and I wish I could add to that with my own body but I can't. My husband and I have been married 11 years and have ironed out most of the wrinkles of marriage and now we just would like to add children to the equation. Sometimes when we are adoring Walter, our lab mix, or petting our silly birds, there will be this unspoken emptiness. We have so much to give a child, so much love, tenderness, affection, guidance, knowledge (my husband actually enjoys math, science and physics! and I was an English major before switching to psych), firm but loving boundaries and our love and joy of animals and nature. My education gives me insight into child development and child psychology. If you choose us, you will be able to rest assured that we will love and cherish the precious little life you carry and gift us with. We highly value education in its many forms and the your/child would be nurtured to reach their fullest potential. We both were raised to love books and learning but we also can appreciate that intelligence comes in many forms.
