Why We/I Want A Surrogate Mother, Egg Donor Or Sperm Donor:
Unable to have children myself due to breast cancer diagnosis for the first time in 2009 at age 36. Successful treatment put me into remission until 2012 when I found another lump in my chest wall. Whilst in remission, I tried 1 round of IVF which resulted in a very early misscarriage. Currently I'm having hormone therapy as a maintenance treatment as the tumour is in an awkward place making it too difficult to operate on. It is extremely slow growing with no evidence of spread and will continue to be treated as recurrent breast cancer rather than anything else. As the cancer is oestrogen positive, I am unable to get pregnant due to the impact of hormones plus the fact that I have been forced through an early menopause. I thankfully have 5 frozen embryos that my husband and I made prior to any cancer treatment and I believe they are there for a reason. |
Description Of Us:
Born to have children and be a mother. People would describe me as gentle, caring and extremely kind and loving. My family are my world and having children myself, being a mother is something I have dreamt of since childhood. Getting breast cancer at such a young age was not something I ever imagined but the fight in me to keep going and my resilience means I will never give up on other dreams. I have never been given a terminal diagnosis and may have to live with this for many more years but I am strong, brave and loved so will continue fighting for as long as necessary. Additionally, meeting my now husband a little later in life and more importantly only 6 months before my 1st diagnosis. He is my rock. He has been by my side through everything and we are stronger now than ever before and would love a baby to complete our family. We both work and have good jobs. We are financially sound and have a very large supportive family. |
My Letter To Surrogate Mother, Egg Donor Or Sperm Donor:
We are in awe of what you surrogates do and the amazing gift you give to people like me. It is hard to put into words how I would feel to have somebody carrying a baby for me and my husband. It is the most selfless thing in the world to do and something I never thought I would find myself in a position to do. If reading this letter, please be sure of our love and commitment to each other and to this process of having a baby. Please see beyond my illness and help us to make our dreams come true. My cancer does not define me as a person, but being a mother would. xxx |
