Surrogate Mother profile introduction

I am a medical doctor currently training in dermatology, living in Beograd, Serbia. My desire to become a surrogate stems from both a personal journey and a commitment to helping others. I understand the complexities of balancing career and family and want to assist those who may not have the opportunity to experience this joy. I have a strong appreciation for the arts, enjoy hiking and cycling, and have a three-legged cat named Kira who lights up my life. While I have my own career to consider, I am eager to use my experience and compassion in this role. I look forward to supporting you on this path towards parenthood.

About this surrogate mother profile

I am an MD by profession (currently pursuing dermatology specialty training), but my educational background is somewhat different. I attended a language-oriented high school in my hometown of Zagreb, where I focused on social sciences, particularly world literature and philosophy. I hold both Serbian and Croatian citizenship (my mother is Serbian and my father Croatian) and am therefore an EU citizen. I also speak German (C1 level, obtained in 2016) and have a strong interest in languages. I have a deep appreciation for the arts in many forms, especially film. Some of my favourite directors include Jim Jarmusch, Terrence Malick, Ingmar Bergman, Akira Kurosawa, and Guillermo del Toro. In literature, I enjoy fantasy and science fiction, particularly works such as The Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, as well as the works of Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman. I also enjoy Foundation, Dune, and classics like Crime and Punishment. In addition, I appreciate the works of Yanis Varoufakis. I am currently in psychotherapy training within a family systems approach. I have had the privilege of traveling to many countries, mostly in Europe—such as Greece, Albania, the countries of the former Yugoslavia, Austria, Switzerland, Germany, Belgium, France, the United Kingdom, and Ireland—as well as Egypt, Canada, the United States (some years ago), Hungary, the Czech Republic, and Italy. Professionally and personally, I am interested in functional medicine and traditional Chinese medicine, while maintaining a strong respect for evidence-based Western medicine—from vaccination to surgical practice. Outside of work, I enjoy dancing, cycling in nature on sunny days, and going on short hikes. I am also a fan of concerts, especially artists such as Thievery Corporation, Beth Hart, Dead Can Dance, KALEO, as well as regional artists like Darko Rundek. I have a particular fondness for animals, especially cats—I have a three-legged cat named Kira, who brings me a great deal of joy. I also enjoy writing poetry and short stories.

Surrogate Mother journey and preferences

I have several reasons for wanting to become a surrogate. As a medical doctor, I am aware that my career may continue to take priority in my life, and I cannot confidently predict whether I will choose to have a child of my own in the future. Because of that, I would like to make meaningful use of my twenties—biologically the most favorable time for pregnancy—by helping someone else build their family. Additionally, I experienced an unplanned pregnancy at the age of 20, which lasted nine weeks. At that time, neither I nor my partner of seven years had the resources to provide the kind of life we felt a child deserved, so I made the difficult decision not to continue the pregnancy. Becoming a surrogate feels, in part, like a way of giving back and helping others in a way I could not at that stage in my life. I have also been diagnosed with endometriosis, for which I had a minimally invasive surgery in a world-class centre, the Cromwell Hospital in London, during the summer of 2025 (middle of August)-and I am happy to report there are no consequences to my fertility according to my doctors (I have high levels of AMH, as well as patent ovarian tubes), and I understand that pregnancy may have potential health benefits in this context. However, my desire to become a surrogate existed well before this diagnosis, and this aspect is simply an additional consideration rather than the primary motivation

Whoever you may be, I believe—meaning I think and feel this without much dissonance between the two—that balancing career and family can be difficult. Sometimes life simply doesn’t unfold as planned. It may be that time has passed and pregnancy is no longer possible, that you have spent years building the stability you wanted for a child, that the right partner came later than expected—or that you are part of the LGBTQ+ community and need some additional support to make this wish possible. As a medical doctor, I have witnessed many deliveries and the joy that follows what is, truly, a labour of love. That experience has stayed with me, and I would value the opportunity to be part of that process in this way. I am told I am principled—direct, honest and loyal—and I try to live in accordance with that. I am also careful and thoughtful in my decisions. From my side, you would of course have every right to request medical tests and proof of my health. I would also feel more comfortable having legal guidance when drafting an agreement, so that everything is clear and well-defined for both sides, particularly given the way legal parenthood is often assigned to the birthing mother. I do not seek financial compensation; this is something I would like to do for altruistic reasons. However, I would expect that IVF costs and all necessary medical care related to the pregnancy are covered, as part of ensuring a safe and responsible process. I also want to be open about the fact that, in the unlikely event of a serious medical emergency, my own life and health would take priority. This reflects standard medical practice, and I believe it is important to be transparent about it from the beginning. Having witnessed many births firsthand—the process itself, in every sense a labour of love, and the quiet joy that follows—I would feel truly honoured to help you on that path, in whatever way I can. I am very much looking forward to meeting you. Until then, I will be spending some time with my three-legged beauty, Kira.
