Hi my name is Darren and I am a 47 year old heterosexual single male who works as a school teacher on the Sunshine Coast. I have always wanted to become a dad and I have always felt the biggest and most important achievement in my life was going to be as a dad. My own early childhood was filled with love and magic and ive always wanted to recreate this for my own children. I have never been in the right relationship to have children and i am desperate to become a dad. My dreams are to spend the rest of my life raising children. I am really lucky to have the amazingly generous support of a surrogate mother and now i need the incredible gift of life from an egg donor. Just a little about myself: I currently have no children but i have a 12 year old border collie called Jack who is my best mate. I am of anglo saxon background. I have a law degree, a politics degree and a post grad dip in high school education. I worked as a Criminal Lawyer for the Victorian Aboriginal Legal Service. I found this career way too stressful. I really enjoy working as a school teacher as i love working with kids. I am a non smoker and the occassional glass of red wine drinker. My family has a history of robust health. Except for my Mum who i lost a couple of years ago from a brain tumour which I believe was caused by stress. There are no genetic disorders in my family, 3 of my grand parents lived into their 80's and 90's. I am not religious although i went to a Church of England private school in Geelong, Victoria. I do how ever think its important for children to learn about the worlds great religions in order for them to better understand their world and provide them the grounding in order they make their own decisions. If my child told me he/she was gay or i suspected so, i would support my child to be themselves and to trust their feelings. I would do my best to help my child avoid social judgement and discrimination. Gay or straight my child would mean the world too me and I would support them no matter what. I support gay marriage as i believe we should all be entitled to the same social and legal rights. I also support gay couples being parents as i believe the most important thing for children is love, security and care, and heterosexual or gay couples, or single parents, are capable of providig this. I dont care what profession my child pursues. All i would want for my child would be to grow up to feel loved, valued, unique, confident, resilient and happy. I am usually a Greens or Labour party voter. Im usually on the left side of politics although i can find myself moderate on some issues. The three most important values/qualities to instill in my children are: self care and self love, empathy for others, love and respect of animals and the environment.Hope that helps. kind regards Darren Corke
