I'm 42 years old and have a five year old son who was conceived via a sperm donation. My biological clock started to tick loudly in my mid-30s, and while I would have preferred to be married and do things the traditional way, I didn't want to risk missing out on being a mother all together by waiting for Mr Right. I live in Canberra and own a retail business that allows me to work from home and be a full-time Mum. Despite being a successful business woman I still count being a mother as the most rewarding experience I've ever had.

For the past two years I have been trying to give my son a sibling and have spent over $50,000 on IVF trying to do so. Unfortunately I have now run out of sperm and my donor has had a vasectomy. Looking for a donor in CANBERRA or SYDNEY please - I've been receiving introductions from all around the world, thank you, but the travel logistics wouldn't work.

I'm seeking a donor whose motivation for being a donor is 100% altruistic - who only wants the warm fuzzy feeling of knowing he helped someone become a mother (rather than seeing me as an incubator for their spawn!). I would like to keep in touch with the donor with occasional email updates, and if we're travelling in the area (and if appropriate) for a pop in for a visit. Like you would do with an uncle – but no more than twice a year - just enough contact for my child to know who their donor is, but not necessarily have a close relationship with them. As I need to conceive via artificial insemination I need my donor to live driving distance from Canberra. I'm happy to travel to Sydney but unfortunately the logistics wouldn't work any further.
