About this intended parent profile

I was raised in a very-loving, caring and fun family by parents who were married for 65 years. My parents instilled in me values of loyalty, generosity, care, the importance of family and friends and the need to help others. I am a fun-loving and caring person and I want to give the world to another being. I am blessed in that I have a very supportive, close-knit family who will support and help me where and if necessary. I have two sisters and a brother who are all married with children of their own and we all get along exceptionally well and see each other weekly. I am also very close with all of my nieces and nephews and they have pledged their support in regards to my decision. I own my own home and car outright and live in the lovely and leafy suburb of Chapel Hill, Brisbane. I have a stable and long-term career in Queensland Health as an operating theatre nurse in charge of Urology and Transplant Services where I have worked for the past 31 years.

I am currently single and was divorced at the age of 33 after 12 years of marriage. It was an amicable break-up and still to this day I am in contact with him and his family. Unfortunately, I was unable to meet the right person to have a child with and, therefore, with the support of my loving family and friends, I decided to go down the pathway of IVF as a single mother. It has been a long journey to conceive over a period of more than ten years. I have tried IVF (using my own and donor eggs) and currently have donor embryo's waiting to be used . I was in the process of another round of IVF using these donor embryo's when I became unwell with uterine fibroids and an enlarged uterus. After a small gynaecological day procedure, my gynaecologist advised me that I can no longer conceive and carry a child to full term.

Although I am single, I believe that I can give everything to a child. I have dedicated more than 10 years to trying to conceive and carry a child and there would be no greater gift than a person willing to share this journey with me. If I had the chance to have a child of my own, it would be assured a close, loving family network where they would be able to grow up in nurturing and supportive environment.
